Flags: Typed
How to play Flags (Typed)
Flags is a timed quiz in which you name as many countries and territories from their flags as you can in sixty seconds.
Type the country the flag belongs to.
About Flags (Typed)
Type the country's name to answer. Names count in English, German, Spanish or French, accents and capitals are ignored, and a small typo is forgiven as long as no other flag's name is a closer fit. A wrong answer moves on to the next flag.
Typos are measured against the name: none is forgiven under five letters, one from five letters and two from ten, and swapping two neighbouring letters counts as one. Iceland is never taken as a typo of Ireland, because it names another flag exactly, and a bare Congo is accepted for both Congos.
With no choices to rule out, typed mode tests recall, and the speed bonus shrinks while you type. Use the shortest accepted name you know, UK rather than United Kingdom, and press Skip when a name will not come: a wrong answer costs 25 points and breaks your streak, while a skip does neither.
The goal of Flags
A run lasts sixty seconds. Name as many flags as you can, one at a time, to build the highest score you can. Playing alone, the minute starts with your first answer and cannot be paused.
How to set up Flags
Choose Easy, Medium or Hard. Easy plays the sixty best-known flags, Medium adds every other sovereign state, and Hard plays all 225 flags, territories included. Changing the difficulty starts a fresh run.
Flags rules
Each flag stays up until you answer or skip it, and no flag comes back until every flag in the pool has been shown. You have three skips per run: a skip scores nothing, costs nothing and keeps your streak and multiplier.
