Checkers and draughts games

Capture or block every piece your opponent has.

All four are played on the dark squares against a computer player, and a capture must be taken whenever one is offered. Checkers is the American and English game on an 8x8 board, with kings that move one square. International Draughts is played on a 10x10 board, and Russian and Brazilian Draughts on 8x8, all three with flying kings and men that also capture backwards.

About these games

In every variant a man moves one square diagonally forwards and is crowned on the far row, and a capture jumps an enemy piece to the empty square beyond it. A capture that can go on must go on. You lose when you cannot move, whether your pieces have all been taken or the ones left are blocked, and a long game with no progress ends in a draw.

Checkers is the place to start: kings move one square and you may choose any capture. International and Brazilian Draughts make you take the capture that takes the most pieces, while Russian Draughts lets you choose and crowns a man in the middle of a capture, so it can jump on as a king. In all three draughts games a king moves any distance along a free diagonal and can capture a piece from far away.

Every variant is free in your browser against a computer player at Easy, Normal or Hard, with no sign-in needed, and Undo takes back your last move. Signed in, you can open an online table for two in any of the four and play a friend with the table's code.
